Details

Park Process’ HydroSpin™ Hydrocyclones are simple solids/liquid separation devices with no moving parts designed to accelerate the settling process of solids in liquid using centrifugal force. What determines the separation size of particles in a cyclone is a function of feed pressure, cyclone diameter, exit dimensions, and the relative characteristics of the particles and liquid. Our Hydrocyclones can be customized to the unique separation requirements of your specific application. The HydroSpin™ is available in sizes 1” to 33” in abrasion-resistant polyurethane, carbon steel, or stainless steel construction. Other materials are available for special chemical compatibility. Ceramic or rubber liners are available for carbon and stainless steel models.

Single Hydrocyclone models can handle flow rates from 1 GPM to over 8,000 GPM. Multiple hydrocyclones may be installed on a manifold to handle higher flow rates. A 1” polyurethane model can achieve cuts below 5 microns at 50 PSI feed pressure. Special oil/water separating Hydrocyclones are also available.

How It Works

The incoming flow is directed into the cylindrical part of the Hydrocyclone tangentially, creating a spin of the entire contents of the flow. The heavy components in the stream move outward toward the wall of the cylinder. The conical section of the cyclone causes the speed of rotation to increase, throwing even

smaller particles toward the wall. In solids/liquid separating Hydrocyclones, the solids tend to move downward to the bottom of the cyclone by gravity, where they are discharged with a percentage of the incoming flow. The cleaner fluid circulating in the center forms a vortex that travels up and out of the top section of the cyclone through the vortex finder.

About the HydroSpin™ A Series

2.5” Hydrocyclone available in abrasion-resistant polyurethane, carbon steel, or stainless steel construction.

Applications

The Park Process HydroSpin offers a simple way to accelerate solids/liquid separation for a wide range of industries and applications.

Pulp and Paper Manufacturing

Hydrocyclones remove sand and contaminants from water used in pulp and paper manufacturing.

Drilling Industry

Drilling mud sand and silt can be effectively separated with the aid of a Hydrocyclone.

Metal Working

The HydroSpin can be used to separate metal particles from cooling liquids used in metal working.

Mineral Processing

Hydrocyclones are often used in the mining industry for classifying particles as part of a dewatering process.

Irrigation

The HydroSpin removes abrasive sand and silt from agricultural water, preventing damage and extending the service life of irrigation systems.

Recycling Processes

Hydrocyclones used in plastic and carpet recycling provide efficient density-based separation and sorting of plastic particles and fibers.

Chemical Processing

Chemical processing plants utilize Hydrocyclone technology to separate solids from liquids in their effluent stream to help ensure compliance with EPA regulations.

Well Water Desanding

Residential and commercial landowners that rely on well water can benefit from using a Hydrocyclone to keep sand from damaging pumps, clogging pipes, and tainting drinking water.
